About Non-League Day
Non-League Day aims to support grassroots football in England and spread the word of everything that’s so fantastic about the lower echelons of English football. The Non-League Day website states: ‘Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer led community football while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.’
The hosts came into the game third in the league table, while the visitors were in the relegation zone. However it is arguable that Dover played the slightly better football on the day and created more clear-cut chances, particularly in the first half. But Town were the better side after the interval and created late drama, as Kelvin Langmead scored an equaliser in the 94th minute for Harrogate following the hosts ramping up the pressure, creating a fantastic end to a fairly even game. Anthony Jeffrey was also shown a red card in the 97th minute to add to Dover’s woes. Full-time result: 2-2.
Entertainment rating: 3.5/5
Atmosphere rating: 1/5 (Though it is worth noting that around 20 Dover supporters had made the lengthy trip and made a fair amount of noise.)
